Mindful skills for everyday life, practiced together in nature to support you through the Holiday Season
I’m excited to share something close to my heart: an 8-week therapeutic mind-body skills group in nature, created with my husband, Isaac Streckenbach, through BeFREE Wellness and Nurture Nature Within to support you and your family through the holiday season!
After 12 years supporting individuals, couples, and families, I hear a growing longing for connection—with ourselves, one another, and the natural world. For 21 years, Isaac and I have turned to nature to reconnect and reset as a couple and family. Now, we’re bringing our professional training and this shared passion together to offer that space to you.
Bring therapy into nature—and connection into everyday life.
Understanding ourselves is one part of healing. Practicing new ways of responding and relating is another. Through mindful walking, guided experiences, and supportive group reflection, we’ll practice noticing stress responses, communicating needs, listening with intention, and connecting with others.
My approach draws on mind-body medicine, Hakomi-informed somatic mindfulness, and ecotherapy. We’ll also explore research and teachings that connect our emotional lives with the natural world:
The Science of Awe: Drawing on psychologist Dacher Keltner’s research and his book Awe: The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life, we’ll practice noticing everyday wonder in nature and explore how awe can broaden our perspective, deepen connection, and encourage care for others.
Gratitude, reciprocity, and belonging: Drawing from The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer to reflect on giving, receiving, and caring for one another and the living world.
Grief and community: Drawing from The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller to make room for loss, compassionate witnessing, and the support of shared human experience.
Nature and well-being: Exploring the research presented in The Nature Fix by Florence Williams on nature’s relationship with mood, creativity, and well-being.
Each week, we’ll learn and practice a mindful self-regulation skill, then explore how to bring it into work, relationships, and take a pause during everyday moments of stress. Wednesday Zoom sessions will offer guided practice between our outdoor gatherings.
I bring 12 years of clinical experience, training through the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and certification in Ecotherapy through the Somatic Nature Therapy Institute among other trauma informed certifications and practices. Isaac is a Certified Mindful Outdoor Guide trained at the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership, with experience guiding wilderness and backcountry groups for teens at Open Sky Wilderness Therapy in Durango, Colorado. We're birthing these practices and bringing them to you through our shared vision at Nurture Nature Within.
Together, we’re offering a place to slow down, practice interpersonal skills, and find support through the holiday season.
Sunday gatherings: November 1–December 20, 2026, 12 PM–1:30 PM, at outdoor locations around Galveston County.
Wednesday Zoom practices: November 4–December 23, noon–12:30 PM.
Flexible participation: Join one Sunday class or all eight. The corresponding online practice is included in the price.
Details: All times are CST. Registered participants receive location details and Zoom links the week of each session.

We would love to have you join us. If someone comes to mind who might appreciate this experience, please share this invitation. Colleagues, I’d be grateful for your help passing it along to clients and professional networks who may find it meaningful and of course you are invited to join us as well.
Curious about the science behind time in nature? Explore Florence Williams’s The 3-Day Effect on Audible, an audio series combining research and personal stories about immersion in the outdoors.
You’re welcome to reply with questions about the group or whether it might be a good fit. Thank you for helping us create more opportunities for connection—with ourselves, one another, and the land.
Warmly,
Kifferie & Isaac
